O bairro das Janelas Verdes, onde se insere a presente intervenção, é um bairro de construção tradicional portuguesa, dos mais antigos da cidade. Aqui instalou-se a burguesia e a nobreza vinda do Brasil no séc. XVIII. Para além do núcleo habitacional de grande qualidade, encontram-se aqui muitos hotéis, embaixadas ou edifícios públicos em casas nobres ou conventos, como o Museu de Arte Antiga, instalado no Palácio Alvor, do século XVII. Recentemente o bairro ganhou dinâmicas distintas pela presença de lojas de design, escolas de arte e espaços de exposições, atraindo visitantes em turismo pela cidade.

O edifício a intervir é um exemplar de arquitetura civil corrente dos anos 60, projetado pelo ateliê do arquiteto José Marques de Brito, segundo consulta ao Arquivo Municipal de Lisboa.

A intervenção diz respeito à reabilitação do troço de fachada correspondente a uma galeria de arte, em funcionamento até 2012. A fachada existente, a reabilitar, contêm quatro planos de vidro, três deles fixos e o último de porta, para acesso ao espaço. Todos são compostos por vidro simples e caixilharia metálica pintada à cor preta. As cantarias existentes são em pedra calcária, a manter.

A proposta pressupõe a continuidade com o tecido histórico urbano mantendo as suas especificidades como: alinhamentos, materiais e cromatismo, do mesmo modo que contribui para dotar o espaço de melhores condições de segurança, conforto térmico e, estética, pela presença das floreiras associadas aos vãos.

The Janelas Verdes neighborhood, where the present intervention is located, is a neighborhood of traditional Portuguese construction, one of the oldest in the city. Here the bourgeoisie and nobility from Brazil settled in the 19th century. XVIII. In addition to the high quality housing, there are many hotels, embassies or public buildings in noble houses or convents, such as the Museum of Ancient Art, installed in the Alvor Palace, from the 17th century. Recently, the neighborhood has gained distinct dynamics due to the presence of design stores, art schools and exhibition spaces, attracting visitors to tourism around the city.
The building to be intervened is an example of current civil architecture from the 60s, designed by the studio of the architect José Marques de Brito, according to the Lisbon Municipal Archives.
The intervention concerns the rehabilitation of the façade section corresponding to an art gallery, in operation until 2012. The existing façade, to be rehabilitated, contains four glass planes, three of them fixed and the last door, to access the space. All are composed of simple glass and metal frames painted in black. The existing stonework is in limestone, to be maintained.
The proposal assumes continuity with the historical urban fabric, maintaining its specificities such as: alignments, materials and chromatism, in the same way that it contributes to providing the space with better conditions of safety, thermal and aesthetic comfort, due to the presence of flowerpots associated with the openings .
